When reading the articles Why your words matter by Dr Lizanne Langenhoven, Be aware of scams and overpromises by René Botha, and When Christmas hurts by Bonni Suckling, it reminds me of how fragile we human beings are.

I’m thankful to our contributors for sharing their knowledge, experience, and reminding us to be self-aware, cautious, kind, and forgiving.Ā

Thank you to Louise AbrahamsĀ for telling her story My journey inwards. Her vulnerability and continued growth through her ongoing cervical cancer journeyĀ is to be applauded. It’s great news that some laboratories offer self-sampling HPV tests; read moreĀ in Cervical cancer screening.

Another word of thanks goesĀ to Prof Vernon Louw for his timeĀ and insight on the future of haematology in Bridging the gap.

Looking back on this year, these words come to mind: an abundance of opportunities, the realisation of never taking your health for granted, and the even bigger revelation of always put your health first, and the excitement for what the future holds.Ā

Thank you, buddies, go well. Ā
