A leading and popular Cape Town women’s rights lawyer, arts patron and doting patriarch, Peter Truman finds his utopian world turned upside down. Usually adept at coping, the pressures mount whilst caring for his beloved wife, Amanda, in her cancer recovery, and still being the perfect father to their daughter. Extended to the limit, he accedes to his PA’s insistence to hire an au pair.

The Icelandic physiotherapy student is cheeky, witty and, like Peter, distinctively musical. She is soon embraced into the daily lives of the Truman family. But her arrival has unintended consequences as Peter falls victim to both his strengths and his weaknesses.

About the author

Owen Salmon is a senior advocate at the Johannesburg Bar. With his late wife Isabeau, a musician who passed away from cancer, they have three adult children currently living and working in the United Kingdom. His leisure time is spent with family and friends, keeping fit, playing the guitar, listening to music and creative writing. Owen has authored two non-fiction titles: Law Made Simple: Compliance for Business, Citizens, and for Government (Lawful Living, 2016) and Intellectual Property Made Simple (Siber Ink, 2021). A Weakness to Die For is his debut novel.
